5月5日、被災地NGO恊働センターの増島智子さんに遠野の仮設住宅の集会所に連れて行っていただきました。
そこでなんと 今回私が東京から一緒に連れて来た私の2頭のぞうさんのヴェルデちゃんとミチルちゃんをご覧になった作り手さんのおひとりの富子さんが、
「このぞうさん達 のタオルの模様、覚えてる！両方とも私が縫ったぞうさんだ！ぞうさんに縫い付けてある”絆”のロゴ入りのリボンの縫い付け方が2頭とも確かに私のだ わ！！」と！
なんと私が2011年の10月に購入した緑色のぞうさんヴェルデちゃんと2012年の8月にお誕生日プレゼントとして“まけないぞう”の応援団の makenaizoneを主宰していらっしゃる青木正美先生から私が頂いた青色ぞうさ んのミチルちゃんの作り手さんがなんと同一人物であった上に、初めての遠野で最初に伺った仮設住宅にてその作り手さんご自身に いきなり出会えるなんてもう本当に信じられず、作り手さんも私も大感激。
ご自分が作られたぞうさん（それも２頭）に再会し、「私の生きた証がここに戻って きてくれてまた会えて嬉しい！」とおっしゃった富子さんのお言葉に涙が溢れた遠野での幸せな午後でした！
こんな素晴らしいご縁に恵まれ、改めて“まけない ぞうプロジェクト”に出会
えたことに感謝し、これからもずっと応援を続けて行きたい！という気持ちがいっぱいになったまだ春浅い遠野での出来事でした。

【Message from Mami Wakabayashi, the editor of makenaizone FB Page】Tomoko Masujima-san, the member of NGO Collaboration Center kindly took me to the temporary housing in Tono City, Iwate Pref. on May 5th, where I met the person who have actually made two of my Makenaizo Elephants, Verde-chan & Michiru-chan!
The name of the elephant maker is Tomiko-san, and she could tell that these elephants were the ones she herself made by the pattern & the color of the towel she remembered, and how the ribbon of Bond has been sewn onto the towel. I was just so much touched by this amazing & wonderful encounter in Toho City, and Tomiko-san’s words “I am so happy & moved to be able to see the Never give up elephants which are the evidence that I survived from tsunami finally came back to see me today!” made me cry. What a blessing!! And I got more determined to support this wonderful project for the rest of my life!
