被災地支援の“まけないぞう”に出会って2年。このプロジェクトの素晴らしさに感銘を受け今日まで応援を続けて参りまし たが、実は誰よりも私自身がまけないぞうさんから沢山の笑顔と力を逆に頂いて今日まで過ごして来られたということについて、作り手さん達に直接お目にか かってお礼を申し上げたいとずっと思ってきました。
そしてその思いが叶った今年のゴールデンウィーク。
こちらの写真は５月６日に大槌町吉里吉里の仮設住宅 にお住まいのたか子さん宅に伺った時のものです。
高校時代に留学していた先のホストシスターの息子達にぞうさんをプレゼントした数カ月後の昨年１月に 彼らがアメリカの災害支援団体のボランティアメンバーとして私がプレゼントしたまけないぞうを連れて来日し、数カ月に渡って宮城県七ヶ浜に滞在しながら半 壊した家屋の修復作業の支援活動をしてくれたことをお話しし、アメリカに渡ったぞうさんがアメリカの若者達を日本に導いてくれたエピソードを写真と共にお 伝えしました。
『あぃやぁ！こんな遠い所まで行ったんだね～、ぞうさん！これからもまだまだいっぱいぞうさん作ろう！』とアルバムの写真一枚一枚を見つめ ながら、満面の笑みを浮かべて下さったたか子さんの表情を拝見しながら、作り手さんも買い手の私達をも笑顔にしてくれる“まけないぞう”の素晴らしいチカラを信じ、これからもずっとまけないぞうを通じて被災された皆さんを応援していこうと改めて心に誓った瞬間でした。
【Message from Mami Wakabayashi, the member of makenaizone】It has been 2 years since I met Makenaizo Elephant. I got so much impressed with the background of this wonderful project at the first encounter with Makenaizo, and have been rooting for this project up until today. Actually I myself have been encouraged so much by Makenaizo, and I visited Iwate Pref. for the first time in order to meet with the makers of the elephants to show my deep respect & gratitude to them for their great production of Makenaizos in face to face basis. I brought the pictures of the supporters all over the world that I’ve taken over the past 2 years to show how the elephants are loved in the world. Takako-san loved those pictures, and told me that she was so glad and happy to know the elephants are loved even in the foreign countries far away from her. This is the picture of Takako-san & myself, seeing the picture of American young men who are my host sister’s sons with Makenaizo, who’ve stayed in Miyagi Pref. as volunteer staff members where they have done a lot of work to restore the affected houses on the coastal areas of Tohoku in 2012. The smile she showed when seeing the picture was so beautiful that I felt the awesome power of Makenaizo Elephants.
